On Sunday, October 11 from 2:00–4:00 p.m., people of many faiths will gather on the South Lawn of the North Carolina State Capitol in Raleigh for “A Stand for Dignity: People of Faith Raising Voices for Immigrants.” This is not a protest; it is a community gathering for public witness. The event, sponsored by Wake Interfaith Immigration Network, will be a program of prayer, song, and shared reflection. We will listen to what our faith traditions expect of us, acknowledge how far current realities fall short of those expectations, and find a way forward – together. If you are concerned but feel overwhelmed, unsure where to start, or simply need to be in community with others who share your convictions, come stand with us. [Personalize to your own feelings and audience]

I’ll be honest: there are days when what’s happening to immigrant families in this country feels so overwhelming that I don’t know what to do with it. That’s why I’m showing up on October 11, and why I hope you will too. A Stand for Dignity will be a gathering of people of many faiths, sponsored by Wake Interfaith Immigration Network, on the South Lawn of the NC State Capitol.

It’s not a protest – it’s a community gathering to bear witness and find a way forward together. We will pray together, sing together, and point towards actions to ensure that every person deserves basic human decency and due process. Our faith traditions have always called us to this. Come stand with us, even if – especially if – you’ve been feeling lost about where to start. Sunday, October 11, 2:00–4:00 p.m. Free and open to everyone.
